It just clips in there. Slide a flat screwdriver down each side between the dic and the dash itself. Just pry easy as not to break the plastic
I got my old one out, put the "new" one in, it says tcs(I believe) instead of Trac. The car needs a wheel bearing so the low trac was on, on this one it is not on and does nothing when I press the tcs, is this normal??
You got the wrong DIC. 97 is 97 only and 98-03 are interchangeable. There is a difference between the GT and the GTP DIC as well.

It was the closest that I seen at the junkyard that was even similar to mine, others didn't have any buttons just showed the little pictures on the side, will this one work in my car? I assume it will work besides the trac buttons, everything else is working fine..for 20$ I should be okay in my opinion, seeing they are about 70$ on ebay after I went there and got it
Can you post a pic of the old DIC and the new one?

First, I am no expert on this but have been looking into it a lot lately. The "pictures" is analog style, while yours is referred to as digital. I am looking at upgrading my analog to digital. So I might have ran across some information that might help explain.
Look at this thread. Evidently the signal is opposite of a GP/SE and GTP. So there is an hack to "invert" the signal. See if this sounds like your situation.

I think I put a GTP one in, not sure, the one on ebay, where I got the pictures says gtp only, but theres no boost part on there.
Just the no traction light isn't on, and doesn't do anything when I press TCS, the wheel bearing is out so the first one said low trac and didn't do anything, but the whole part on the left didn't light up so I got a different one.
Car I pulled it off of was a GT Im pretty sure, didn't have a super charger, but who knows..I just want to make sure my traction works in the winter time xD
Where is Rare at when you need him, he knows all about this ****.
Here is how to modify the GTP digital DIC to work in a GT..... http://www.clubgp.com/cgi-asp/mods.asp?modid=171
So your saying another junkyard run to get the right one, which will make my traction control work? I just need it fixed by October, November or so. I didn't see anything at the first one I went to, as in the same exact DIC.
I seen about 15-20 GPS, and either didn't have it, or it was analog which is not happening.
The main reason I had to get one ASAP, was that the stupid owner before me put a cheapo fuel pump in and now the gas gauge goes all over the place, one minute I have 3/4 tank, next minute its saying low fuel when it really is almost full.
I needed it to tell me how much fuel I have used so I don't look stupid running out of gas.
Did you get a chance to look at the mod link? (The one to clubgp)
If I understand it right the only difference is the light. It's indication is backwards. That makes me think it should work, you need to cut some etches and add some jumpers.
Then the light indicates the correct mode of the traction control.
One other question, will the junkyard let you exchange it? Our u-pull will not. If they let you and can find the right model then go ahead, if you can't the the hack may keep you from throwing away a good DIC.
Don't recall saying that. I advised on the different DIC's, and how to make the GTP one work in a GT.
This sounds like a fuel level sensor issue. Use your trip-odometer to keep track of how far you drive between fills. The main reason I had to get one ASAP, was that the stupid owner before me put a cheapo fuel pump in and now the gas gauge goes all over the place, one minute I have 3/4 tank, next minute its saying low fuel when it really is almost full.
