So yeah, my LS starts and immediately shuts back off. it then starts right back up after turning the key back on and pretty much runs flawlessly for the rest of the day. its very intermittent so it shuts off randomly and we'll never know when its going to shut off again. It does this with a cold or hot engine. I've checked all sensors, cleaned all valves, and the air intake. Im getting no codes for this problem, ive also checked all vacuum lines. Battery is fine pretty much new and is still putting out correct battery voltage and alternating voltage. Fuel PSI is within specs, coils are firing strong, oil/filter has just been changed and all ignition components are new.

Weird thing is that on first startup it fails but after the 2nd attempt it runs perfect on the highway and in general. again theres no codes and nothing seems out of the ordinary. Only thing I can think of is the Crank sensor, Cam sensor, ignition switch, or Oil PSI...and I don't even think these are the issues bc again the car runs great after starting. with my opinions if these were the causes than I would think the car would run like **** and that's if it would start and stay running with the possible issues ive stated.

    Im pretty loss, any ideas?
Not your average grocery getter, but theres always at least two things on the list.... 10w-30 Castrol Titanium and Shell 91 premium mixed with a lil 100 octane racing gas......

Hook up a fuel pressure gauge before the first start...have someone start it while you watch the gauge.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Or on these first starts you're talking about, cycle the key to run a few times before the first start and see if that prevents it

its a free rental at the parts store, you want to see over 42 psi. under 40 you got a problem.

Something like this? http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc..._&target=shelf I guess its $150 deposit to use it

I also heard removing the vacum hose to see if gas is in the line can tell you if the thing is bad?

More and more I think about it, Im 99% the issue is the FPR. My guess miliage dropped and also i recently got a check engine light. i checked the codes and the codes pertained to this sort of

If there is gas in the vacuum line it's automatically bad. I've seen them pour out gas before. Mine had a strong gas smell but no liquid gas as far as I knew, I replaced it as a precaution.

sorry on the late response. I just checked the Fuel psi about two weeks ago and on this LS the fuel psi was good as always at 49psi +/- 1psi. The last time I checked the FPR was about 6months ago which is probably why I haven't checked it thinking its good but I guess that diaphragm in there can rupture at any given time after 13yrs. I truly thought it was ignition related, I even pull the ICM apart and cleaned all the contacts and surfaces(which was extremely dirty). though this may helped or extended the life of the ICM/ignition system for more years to come.....sadly the car has stalled twice since then. So im hoping its the regulator bc that'll be more easier to fix compared to any other ignition related component and cheaper.

Im not sure about cold start problems, but one thing to consider for shut off while hot/running, that not many people are not aware of is the oil pressure switch.
It will intermittently cause shut off. For a quick test You can remove and take a sniff of it ,it will have the familiar electrical burn smell if its shorting out.
