    Howdy folks,

My sister just got her license and my parents want me to give my GTP to her. It's not too big of a deal in the meantime since I also have a GTO but I do need a DD. I've been happy with my 01 GTP and was looking for a nice successor to the car.

I'm not sure if I could buy another Pontiac though this would be the 4th Pontiac I've ever bought (Grand Am, Grand Prix, and GTO). If I decide to take out an auto loan it has to be a car 05 or Newer and I'm not sure if the credit union would look too highly on a defunct brand.

I'm looking for basically a 4 door sedan (I think grand prix's are midsized) with similar power and acceleration but doesn't require premium gas. After driving both the GTP and GTO, I can't stand using my dad's Saturn.

What cars do Grand Prix owners typically move to later on?

Anything thats not fail wheel drive.

But really I would avoid a car note if at all possible.

Why not get another GTP or even a GT? Can be had cheap, plus you know how to work on them already. I think Bio gota CTS-V, another few have Volvos, Saabs, G8, Impreza, Prius (LOL).

They want you to give her your car? And then you have to finance for another DD..hmm.

But I wouldn't finance just to get a DD in this maybe find another GT or GTP.. Or better yet have them buy it for your sister to drive.

Most Pontiac die-hards prefer Chevy second. See if they will go for a new SS. If not, low mileage Impala LTZs are everywhere. Go drive one.

This is highly unusual, in my opinion. I have my GTP because it was bought for a young woman to begin her driving life in. As soon as a parent tried out the gas pedal it was sold. I'm sure that scenario has played through many times. GTPs are easy to make mistakes in and not of very rugged construction. My advice is to suggest starting off with more GT-like performance. Its too easy to cram that pedal and break traction unexpectedly in a GTP. Traction control isn't always instant enough.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

Oh yeah, it depends a lot on the individual. But your Firebird probably had bigger tires. I had fun sliding off corners back in the 14" bias-ply days too, when nobody was around. GTPs are SERIOUSLY under-tired and traffic today is like tossing a kid into a pit of lions.

Can't be 10 years old for finance through a dealer you would have to get a loan through the bank

Do your grandparents have a Buick LeSabre they could sell you cheap?

I would call a local bank and get some loan information.

    Corvette.... Seriously.

Another option might be anything Mazda Speed related. Both the 3 and 6 are great cars.

The guy says he wants a four door sedan, and you recommend a car that doesn't even have a backseat?

A Mazda Speed has no back seat? That must be the new rare limited model.

I said you recommend a car, not that every car you mentioned has no back seat.

The Impala is a logical next step from the GP, From 2010-Current stock is 302hp, 6spd. I personally jumped ship from GM last winter and bought a 2012 Dodge Avenger. The 4cyl puts out 173 hp, the v6 puts out 283. I personally chose the 4 cylinder because it had a 4 speed transmission, I drive for a rental car service and I despise the Chrysler 6 speed, it can never make up its mind in the hills.
