Hey, guys. As I had mentioned in a few previous threads, I just took a trip down the road to check out a 'new' Grand Prix today. It's an '06 GT, loaded with leather, dual climate control, all that fun stuff. Anyway, they're asking $6600 for it as-is, but I think I'm going to try talking them down a bit. Here's why.
Upon initial inspection, the car looked awesome. A few blemishes here and there, but I didn't find anything wrong with it that they hadn't already showed me. It'll need a totally new right mirror and assembly, hopefully I can find one on the cheap. The color is somewhat scarce, which is the only thing that bothers me about that.
I took it for a drive, and I really enjoyed taking off compared to my N/A '04. The transmission flew up and down very smoothly (which I was also wary about, because they'd recently done a flush). I did notice, however, a 'rubbing' noise that sounded like it was coming from the left wheel on a right turn. I don't know if something could be out, or what it would be, but some help with that diagnosis would be nice.
The only other thing that drew my attention was the steering - it almost seemed inconsistent. I'd be doing 30 or so going back and fourth, and once I decelerated, the wheel would suddenly turn a lot easier (or sometimes tougher). It wasn't extremely noticeable, but enough to draw my attention.
Anyway, those were my only two real complaints about the way the car drove. Unfortunately, either of them could turn into repairs in the near future, which is why I'm going to see if they'll come down to $6200, if you guys think that seems right. Here's the ad to the car, tell me what you guys think about these symptoms and what I might have to do about them.
