We have a 2004 Grand Prix. On a recent trip to Kansas City from Omaha we experienced a down pour. I noticed some water on the front passenger floor. My wife thought the water may have been from her umbrella.

Today my wife reported a large amount of water on the passenger floor after she got home from work. It didn't rain today and the water didn't contain any anti freeze.

My first thought was a clogged passage to the condensation route. Maybe the condensation from the A/C ran on the floor instead of the driveway.

Then I saw a similar post about interior water passing past the cowl where the cabin filter resides. And there is a replacement cowl water panel that is an improved design from the original. Then I noticed this panel was applicable to earlier models.

Is there a cowl panel leak issue with 2004-08 GPs? Is there an improved cowl panel for these cars, or is the problem corrected by replacing the panel after it is 10 years old?

    Any input is appreciated.

Idk if the 04+ cars have the cowl panel leak issue or not. I would check the a/c tube those can get plugged up, and I would lean towards that as the second time it happened it wasn't raining.

    ^^^^this!!

It is like $5 from the dealer, but don't expect the dealer to know what it is. Just give them the part number and tell them to order it after you confirm the price.

I discovered the issue. Upon removing the cowl cover I discovered the cowl seal was off. It leaked so bad that the cabin filter was blue from windshield washer fluid leaking in.

I went ahead and got the cowl gutter from the local GM dealer. It went right on without modification. I think since this item is so inexpensive, it is a good idea to go ahead and get one. It appears to shroud the blower motor/cabin filter cavity quite well.
