Quick AEM Oil Pressure Gauge Question

I have read on the forums that you can replace the factory oil pressure sending unit with an aftermarket gauge sending unit and the PCM will not care. However, the threads on the AEM sending unit are smaller than the factory sending unit threads.

Is there an adapter I can but to remedy this, or is there a better place to plug the AEM sending unit into?

you can find a adapter in the hardware store.

or buy a T put the stock sensor on one end of the T the oil pressure sensor for the gauge in the other side of the T and the other end in the oil filter housing.

what ever you do wrap the treads with thread sealant of some kind or it can leak.

If I use an adapter, do you think there would be an increased chance of leaking, or would it be fine with both sets of threads wrapped?

it will be fine. Teflon tape works fine.

just take the old pressure sensor in the store and match its threads, they are npt threads, means they get fatter at the bottom. tapered if you will. you'll see the threads on the old one.

ask the counter guy for help, they always seem to know where all the stuff is so your not wondering around lost looking.

only make the new adapter pipe snug, dont drive it in all the way or it will crack your oil filter housing. you'll see in the old sensor it only went in about 1/2 way on the sensors threads.

easy way to get the old one out is with channel lock pliers too, forget about a socket or wrench.
