We have a 1999 GP GTP 2 door. The driver's side window had been rolling up slower and slower, it did go down fine. Two days ago something broke, sounded like a cable broke or something. The window will not stay up on its own now. Shutting the door or driving will cause the window to work its way down. I removed the interior door panel and the cables are loose. The window will go up now. I can shimmy the window up by hand, its almost like its off track. I wedged some cardboard in the door to hold the window up for now.

Im wondering if I need to replace both the window motor and regulator or just one of the two?

Are there any rivets that I might have to deal with or is it just nuts/bolts that hold everything together?

How difficult will this repair be?

Cost is an issue, but this needs to get fixed along with a few other items.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

The regulator is bad, but the motor can also be tired. The price for a new reg/motor is low enough that you pick it up as a unit. To remove/install. It's a few 10mm bolts after the panel is off.

Ok. I will probably just get it as a unit then. Its just $20 more with the motor. It would just be my luck that the motor is tired or bad too.

    Thanks for the help.

Make sure you buy the correct side. But .. $35/BO for regulator and motor.

Replace the whole unit. Its really not bad at all. Took me an hour. Probably would only take 20 mins if I hadent been distracted by a lady friend at the same time.
