2005 Grand Prix 194,xxx miles normal wear and tear went to start it up Monday morning and it was trying to turn over in run mode right before engaging the ignition to start the car??? Have a good buddy who works at Chevy is on it and took the ignition switch out took it to work and said it was good and was not the issue. He's coming over tomorrow to hook it up to his tech 2 hoping to see whats the issue. The car was throwing a charging system failure code... Any similar issues any body has had or the same issue and fixed it?

Charging system failure = check the alt/battery and ground/battery terminals.

Battery's good first thing I checked from reading up on the web but what I read was issues with it throwing the code for a few mins and went away with no issues trying to start it or it trys to turn over the starter while already driving the car... I drove the car the night before at 9:30 at night and by 6AM the next morning it started... I can try uploading a video on YouTube and posting it but it isn't doing any thing but what I mentioned so won't be of much help... Had the alternator tested a few weeks ago and also came back good... Even went as far as replacing the whole fuze box panel under the hood with my buddy's out of his Grand Prix with all the same fuzes but it does the same thing. There is a humming noise coming from the fuze box while the key is out of the ignition when the battery is connected... As soon as I pop any of the relay fuzes or larger fuzes out it stops... Put it back in and it starts humming again...

Charging system failure... Have the alternator, battery tested and also check the battery terminals as well as the grounds and power wires for any wear and tear

Replaced the battery last night... My chevy mechanic came over yesterday to check it out while i was at work after taking the ignition switch to work and testing it.. He also took it apart to examine it. When he said he reinstalled the ignition switch he got it to start up.. He said it ran a little ruff at first but let it run for 30 mins and shut it off turned it back a dozen times. He said the battery seemed like it wasn't up to par so I grabbed a battery on the way home last night and before installing it I just wanted to see how it started first and it did the exact same thing as before!!! Needless to say I was beyond frustrated and even after installing the new battery to see if it helped it did not... Now the engine light is flashing every 10 secs and then goes solid for about 20 then starts flashing again while the key is not in the ignition and the door is open...

I havent played withthe 04+ gp ignition switches but if it was a 97-03 I would say 99% chance its an ignition switch 1% chance its some wires shorting between the run circut and the start wire

My buddy was able to come by Monday night and brought his tech 2 with him to see whats going on... It was throwing a starter relay control code, after checking every thing starter, new battery, battery cables, multiple relays, alternator pretty much any thing why it would throw that code and every thing he said wasn't the problem. What he told me was with the key out of the ignition and the engine light flashing like that and then staying solid is bc one of the modules communicate with each other one way or another(PCM, BCM and the others) and is the cars way signaling the issue. So he came up with a bad or faulty PCM... He explained to me what the PCM controls and how it works and suggests that's what it is with what his results are of troubleshooting the car.

He has his parts guy at Chevy looking for a used or refurbished one sitting around he can program to my car to see if solves the issues... From the research and countless hours reading through threads online about similar issues of a PCM acting up were some of the issues I have experienced also not to long ago. So I'm hoping this solves all of them... I will update with results in case anyone else has this issue and can check the PCM before spending a bunch of money like me or anyone else first... I'm surprised no one else chimed in with similar or the same issues as me seems there's more then a handful online... Just glad I have a good friend with the knowledge that's been with Chevy for a long time.. I would of already spent 3x more at a shop before even finding the issue like all the other Grand Prix owners I read about trying to figure it out..
