So on my 02 40th anniversary decided I didn't need 4th gear anymore. It's going to need struts on all four corners lower control arm bushings and a few other small repairs. Not sure if I want to put that much money into a car with 216,000 miles.

If that's all it needs, fix it. Rockauto is your friend. Good cars cost more than it's going to cost you to put a trans and the other parts in it.
4 monroe quick struts, 2 new Dorman lower control arms (will come with new ball joints AND the bushings- all one piece). Used trans and there you are. If you search hard enough you can do all this for around $1000. This is assuming you can do all the work yourself. Also check Amazon.com for the parts as sometimes deals can be had there as well.
I can do the work. I can get all the struts, control arms and other parts for around 350 shipped from Rock auto. The trans is going to be a pain. May just pull it and get it rebuilt. Figure that's safer than a used trans
If you get it rebuilt, you're going to spend more than a decent low mileage trans. Just my opinion...
actually, replacing the 4th gear shaft isn't that bad, I am in no way transmission literate and I did it myself on my GTP using a write up on this site...the hardest part is getting it out of the car
