I need to replace my 2007 Grand Prix struts and while in there, new springs. It seems that no where I search, Monroe, GM or KYB, nobody sells the strut/spring assembly in a single assembly. Monroe sell the rear 2 and GM does likewise, But I can't find a complete front assembly all put together, ready to slip up there and tighten it down and head off to have the alignment done. Does anybody know what I'm looking for ? Thank you !

Why not just keep your springs and swap them over

Well if I go to the hassle of swapping over to new struts, I think old springs would just return to the old ride quality, I think I have 80K on the Pontiac ?

Killian, I am in the same boat. Front strut spring assemblies don't seem to exist for later models of the grand prix. What I will do this spring is buy all the items I want and have a local shop assemble it to the point where I can just toss it in. One advantage is I don't have to risk hurting myself with a spring compressor.

When I was struggling with this issue earlier this year my last post in this thread took a stab at the items I would need. Not sure if it's everything though:

    Good luck!

    Hay stocker,
Yeah it looks like I am going to go with Monroe front and back. I think it would be both more economical to go ahead and buy the fully assembled rear assembly since their without a doubt cheaper than buying all the different parts, But I'm going get a new set of stock spring from GM and the struts from Monroe. That way the rear end is done in one step, and I'll have to put the new springs and new struts and any perished parts of hardware together for the front end. The reason I want new springs is you can't tell with safety how worn the springs are, and I sure as heck don't want to do this job twice. plus I want retain the stock ride, not too harsh and not too soft. I think that my plan,

I agree to buy the rears pre-assembled. I was referring to fronts only when I was talking about gathering parts and getting them assembled at a shop.

I have no personal experience but I've heard a fair number of complaints about Monroe's quality - you can probably search around on this forum and find some opinions if you are interested. Whatever you decide to buy, I would check out www.rockauto.com if you want to save some money. Parts are about half the price of buying in a dealer or parts store for the same products.

I put Monroe pre-assembled in the rear and Monroe struts in the front and kept the factory springs. Rear ones were junk and started to ride lower in the back within a year. Front ones were fine. Get what you pay for. Get the good Monroe struts and not the cheap pre-assembled ones.
