Last night, I was on my way home in the go and I stopped to talk to one of my friends. I turned the car off. When I got back in to start it up i would hear the starter clicking but any lights (dome, etc) would cut out.Battery is good and so is generator. No codes. And I had turned my car off several times and had no problems starting until now. Only thing is the starter was red hot even after it had time to cool off.As my friend pushed my car backwards into a parking space,I put is in park and it started up. No problems as I had to drive to work today. Car did start after I had turned it off this afternoon. Would a bad starter cause this or is it something deeper, like transmission. Thank you.

maybe the shiftier thought it was in gear still? moving it around fixed it? check the cable end on the trans, its got a plastic clip that breaks and the cable dont pull and push the linkage fully.
