Friday night, around 2:00am, my girlfriend and I woke up suddenly to a huge crash in front of my house. Within a minute I made it out front to find this. The car and driver are gone. Hit and run. All that is left of his car was the front grill, bumper cover and lots of random broken pieces. I called the cops then took off in my girlfriends car looking for the scum bag. No luck. Got back to my car about the time the cop showed up. From the sticker inside the bumper cover we were able to tell it was a white 2004-2005 chevy Malibu. I have pretty much exhausted my search efforts looking for this guy. Based off the damage to the vehicles I am shocked the Malibu would make it very far.

My car was pushed about four feet sideways into her truck and then it pushed both of them another three feet or so. Several thousand dollars damage done to both vehicles. We both have full coverage but since the guy ran we are both on the hook for the $500 deductibles. As all of you know a 99 grand prix has little to no value in the insurance companies eyes so I fully expect to be screwed once the adjuster comes tomorrow. I will see about buying it back and get all of my parts off of it since it is definitely totaled.

This comes at a pretty bad time since I was about to start my turbo build. I have spent almost $2500 in the past month buying pretty much everything I need. I guess better now then right after I put all of the stuff on. The car will be missed but I don't think I am out of the 3800 game yet. I won't be buying one right away though. I am going to pick something different for the dd and plan on picking something up later to build with all the parts I have. I still feel sick losing It this way.

Alright guys, even if I never get another w-body it has been fun. I have met some great guys from this forum.

Ouch. On the bright side I'm glad it was parked and nobody was in the car when it happened.

Get the parts off it and find another shell should be able to get everything off the engine and trans if it was modded too.

My GTP was t boned too but on the drivers side when I was driving it last feb not nearly as bad! And trust me I feel your pain all I had left with that car was to drop it off and have it painted while im out in DC. Don't leave the platform find another shell! Also at least you were lucky you have insurance on it!

Also don't give up...find yourself a shell and swap the good parts over and keep on with a build if you still decide to go turbo.

If the cops were smart they could easily find the person that ran into your car, how hard would it be to pull up all registered 2004-2005 white Malibus in the area and start with anyone that has had any previous drunk driving charges.

I take it there was no front plate on that front bumper cover that he left behind? Also, is there no VIN sticker on the bumper cover?

I'm sure they'll find them eventually. Hope the ins. co. doesn't screw you around too bad.

Thanks guys. I am doing all I can to try to find this guy. I have talked with the cops and they are trying their best. My neighbors have been great with offering help and looking for this jerk. The bumper has no vehicle specific numbers on it. It had a spot where a sticker once was that may have had that info but the sticker is no longer there. I just got off the phone with the adjuster and he will be here around 8:30 tomorrow morning. I will let you know what happens.

if you decide to buy it back and need a rust free shell LMK, I don't want to chime in at the wrong time. I just want it to go to someone who will give her the love like you did yours

Wow that's terrible. The person who hit your car has to have some kind of injury. You could also try contacting all the local shops to see if they brought it in to have fixed.

Thank you for the offer on the shell. It will be a while before I can figure out where to go from here. I will have to say no. Very kind of you though.

Dang that really stinks. I am sorry to hear about the car, but glad no one got hurt. Hope for the best for you with the insurance company
