Sure the book price is getting lower and lower, but hey, if i put thousands into my gtp, and it got wrote off, i'd be finding out how to get most if not all my mods out and off of it, to eithor put on another gp, or to sell. Like if the op got $3500 for it, and is able to get most of his parts he wants off, i wouldn't be complaning. $3500 is more then what 95% of 97-03s sell for, even if he just sells the parts and moves on to a different platform.

Sucks that that type of **** happened to ya man, but what can you do. If you've got the check from the insurance company, i'd leave it at that

It's one of those things that you just take a risk on, it's just like driving any normal nice car there's a risk that someone can plow into you and then you get whatever insurance think its worth rather if you could find a identical one for that price or not. Wouldn't stop me from modding a car it just opens my eyes more to realize that this can happen. Like speedy said I would be buying it back and finding away to salvage what I can from it and either sell those parts or transfer it to another car.

I am taking most of the mods off and returning it almost back to stock. Its the new body work, paint job, blood, sweat, and tears building it from very little that sucks. I certainly would not keep myself from modding the car for fear of totaling it.

It was $3000 after the deductible. I agree it is about what most are going for but it is tough to find clean 10-15 year old w-bodies. Not much you can do. I am just glad I had full coverage. Up until this year I have just carried the minimum.

well you know I have and will keep watching. I was even considering making more frequent trips to our junk yards to watch for it. but definitely if anyone else is local and hasn't been following it on facebook, watch for this white 04-05 malibu with no front bumper.

No updates on the driver. I was able to get most of the good stuff off of the car and had it towed away. Im still looking for a replacement. I have not decided yet but will probably be a regal, gp, or monte carlo.

Nope. It had some pretty bad cracks and I would have had to buy another hood to go on it.

I'm really sorry to hear about this. Of course it had to be a GTX. I hope they find this a**hole, and then he gets his license taken for a good long while. Or forever. Just hope that you decide to stay in the W-body scene becuase you have good taste!
