is the firebird engine is a pontiac engine or a chevy engine? if both are pontiac engines it should all bolt right up.
350 is a chevy engine, pontiac never made one.
just did some digging, they did have a 350 from 68 - 77. it may have been a olds engine tho. should bolt right up still. the bell housings on the tranny should be the same.
and the motor mounts should line right up as well.
it is a pontiac 350 out of 76 firebird. i have 79 grandprix with 301 in it.if the 350 engine and trans will bolt up to mounts and tranny mounts i would rather rebuild the 350 and put in as long as i dont need to do a bunch of modifications to switch. i think bell housings are different from 350 to 301 but i got trans out of firebird also
the trans bell housings are the same, i put a th400 from my 70 formula 400 firebird into my 77 caddy with a 426 or some crap. my swap was a th400 to a th400, the only thing i had to do was swap the tail shafts so it would be the right length.
my friend had a 77 gp. it had a 301 stock, we put a 326 in it, then a 400, then a 426, the same tranny was used every time.
the only difference if you change the engine and tranny and the trannys are different, the 400 is longer then a 350 tranny, so the drive shaft will have to be dealt with. and the yolk on the end of the trans may have to be changed to match the drive shaft u joint size.
and the trans cross member would have to be moved, but most cars back then had a few holes in the frame already to move the cross member so it lines up with the tranny mount.
