Hi everyone, I want to share a project with you guys. I had a crazy idea one day, and I have decided that I am going to run with it. I want to take a roller grand prix body, and take the powertrain and rear out of an H-body camaro or T/A. Drop that powertrain under the roller GP, and make it a RWD GP. I think this would be possible, (crazy stupid right? ), but I also think it would be fun. Any input on this would be awesome.

hows your fab skills? and your bank account look? cause it can be done but, it needs to have a frame built a tunnel made, all new everything rant to all 4 corners. its a lot of work. then theres making the steering work right. so much goes into it, in the end its not worth it.

unless you just have a ton of money and want something different.

I'm talking as an eventuality project. And I don't care if it has been done before, I don't have one yet. Ha

So a RWD conversion is okay but a turbo is too much work.

Are you saying the turbocharging the Grand Prix is too much work compared to the RWD conv. or are you saying that doing RWD then turbo would be too much work? Cause neither would be difficult to do.

    turbo is to much work?

but building then installing a full frame, mating it to the body, building a tunnel, keeping the rad support right so the fenders fit and the hood fits right, move the gas tank. then the steering issues. and every other small detail you nor i are not even thought of yet lol would be easy?

To answer to everyone, I meant turbo ON TOP of the conversion is waaaaay too much work. Plus, Superchargers are much easier to install ;D

if you go rwd you go V8 or not at all damn it. so turbo it up.

you talking a 2 year project here easy unless your retired or something lol adding a turbo will be nothing compared to what your proposing.

I'm talking a long-term project, so yeah, two years sounds about right. And I was thinking the 350 I have sitting in my dad's shop. Soup it up a bit, MOAR air by way of supercharger, and then, Racekar.

why go through all that hassle only to install outdated technology? You would be better off installing a LS.

despite all the money and labor, it would be a sweet accomplishment. I always thought if a grand am was rwd, it would be awesome but a GP? I think it would be kick ass lol

The way I see it that if will take to much time way to much money and at the end of the day it's still a Grand Prix and won't be worth squat. Yea we all say it will stay with you forever but let's face it s**t happens and sometimes you run into money problems which requires you to part with some of your valuable. Then what you just put in a lot of money and time for either a complete or incomplete project. I rather you out that into maybe a resto of some kind that way it'll be worth something at the end.

I love this forum. Everyone on here totally bashes on the 3800 motors. LOL. So much better than import forums where everyone is always talking about how fast their honda is. LMAO

I would like to think most of us are realist and know what GP are capable of. Now you have those guys that think 3800 best motor ever ultra cool and the fastest thing ever on the road.. Well those guys usually get butthurt extremely easy and don't stick around to long.
