mine doesn't hit either 3" on 2006
Doesn't hurt to flip it though. It won't hit just sitting there is under load where they hit.
Hate to bring up a dead thread but doing the install tomorrow. Started spraying some penetrating oil on the bolts and stuff was wondering what size the bolts are if I do happen to snap them. Which by the looks I probably will I'm good at breaking bolts.
the cat to res bolts you can use a 1 1/2 long bolts and nuts and like 1/4 inch wide threads will work. those are gonna break. count on it.
if the top bolts break you'll need to drill out the old stud and then nut and bolt the new DP in up there.. not sure how big they should be tho.
get the engine good and hot, then try breaking the bolts free can sometimes help with stuck bolts. the heat frees the rust some and makes the nut expand.
I can't be positive for the 04+ but on mine I ended up using some small block bell housing bolts in mine after breaking them off and swapping in a new flange.

Mine at the top didn't break. Run the car to heat it up. Shut off the car, spray bolts really well with pb blaster. The heat will help draw the penetrant into the threads. With them still warm (unfortunately) try to break the bolts free.

I didn't break the bolts off in the cat back flange until later down the road but I have seen some rusted all the way to nothing a socket can grab.

the hardware store has bolts for way less then summit. they sell grade 8 bolts, they never break. well almost. grade 8 will cost the most, at 50 cents a bolt, 25 cents a nut. 6 cents a washer, see where im going with this? lol
if you have to drill them out, just bring the drill it into the store and get one thats that size, or read the bit for its size, either way your looking at a couple bucks worth of nuts and bolts should it come down to it.
Well I'm willing to bet you didn't clean any grime that could be on it so yea it's somewhat normal. Give it a few days and it should all burn off.
