    Hello guys,
I just bought a 04 GTP Comp G that has the air bags deployed(its a write off car). I'm going to be restoring it because other than the airbags and the bumper assembly, its good. So my question is that there's impact sensors, one that's for the front and two for the left side and right side of the car. I'm thinking that since the drivers airbag and passenger airbag are deployed its only the FRONT impact sensor that went off. Anyone have some experience with these airbag systems in these cars?

Note: I'm replacing the airbag module, clock spring, drivers airbag and passenger airbag.

I havent had any experiance with airbags on a GP but I did have an 02 that was wrecked in the front, mine was way worse then yours though but the airbags didnt deploy. Maybe the 04+ has more sensors or they may just be more sensitive. Have you took off the bumper cover yet, looks like the rad support is good but your steel bumper reinforcement might have some damage, if so your lower rails could have some damage. As for replacing your airbags your right, both airbags, and the module have to be replaced but the clock spring is not necessary to replace unless yours has actual damage to it. With the impact sensors you dont have to replace them unless they are physically damaged. I would also recommend getting your computer reflashed after you finished replacing everything. Do you have any experiance with autobody/collision repair?

Post up some pics once you get the car torn down a little more so we can actually see the structure of the vehicle

Here is my 02 before I started repairing it...

Here is a pic after I got done welding the new rad support in and painted it

Currently right now I am working on an 06 Mustang GT the driver airbag was deployed on this car but it was not hit as hard as the GP was

Let me know if you need any advice Im always on here, you can just shoot me a PM if I dont get back to you on here

The 04+ has 3 sensors, 1 left sensor, 1 middle, 1 right. The middle one is on the rad support, there's either the right one that's in the door or the left and the other impact is somewheres else, I'll have to call the dealer to find out where exactly all these impact sensors are. I don't have any experience in auto body myself, but my woman's dad and grandpa both do this for a retirement living so I'll be getting them to help. I just picked up the car today, the pictures I showed you were of what they show to you online so you can make your offer, so its a gamble. The rad support has zero damage but the bumper support is F'ed, impact bar, and the energy absorber. The rad has some damage, but no leaks. You have more of a project than me, I'd say. I'll snap some better pictures of the car so you can see it. I wont be ripping it apart quite yet though. I'll for surely give you a shout if I'm stuck in a rut or something like that! Thanks for the response and good luck with your projects!
