    04 comp g gtp.
The drivers seat will recline back and hold position but will not spring forward by itself unless I manually push it forward. Is there a fix without replacing the entire seat back?

I am not even sure if they spring back up. At least my '04 doesn't do it and my friend's '06 doesn't do it either.

My 04 also does not spring forward. Only car i've ever owned that didnt. So either a lot of people have broken seats or there are no springs

That is surprizing. Do you think it was like that when new from the factory?

It I ever were to trip the lever while driving, I'd have to pull over to bring the seat back up.

Mine used to automatically come up. However mine no longer does, do does my mothers in her '06. They did return at one point in time.

So the gm repair manuals have a good break down of the seats if you'd like to see it

Thank you guys. Confirmed mine doesn't spring forward >_> I want to say I think my old leather seats did. Either way no hassle here I set the seat wear I want it and never have to mess with it.
