I'm in the market for some new mufflers. My magnaflows are old and not as loud as they used to be, so now i want to go louder. I dont care how ricer it makes my car sound but im going for something so loud itll turn heads. And no I dont want to do straight piped. Any suggestions on what mufflers i should get? Anything helps! thanks

Edit: Shouldve worded that differently... I DONT want it to sound ricer, but i do want it to be loud.

    Basically what everyone else said.

But, if you want stupid loud with lots of drone and all that stuff, just have a glasspack put in before the Y, and run no mufflers, just tips.

Typically mufflers get louder as they fail. Likely you've become accustom to your loud exhaust. Anything louder would not have mufflers at all.

Yes, you can do that without gutting the cat.

Saw your edit about NOT wanting to sound ricer. Headers will deepen and slightly louden your exhaust (if you don't already have them on) The catalytic will deaden quite a bit of sound. The resonator also quiets things down some, but mostly gets rid of the rasp (ricer noise stuffs) and the mufflers further quiet everything down.

Depending on what you have (Assuming all factory exhaust except for the mufflers) I would just cut the mufflers off, weld in a piece of pipe, and weld the tip to that.

If you want it to be loud and sound good, get headers, 3" catalytic, biggest resonator you can find (or glasspack muffler) and your preference on muffler.

Anyone who wants there v6 to be loud has obviously never owned a v8. Our cars sound like crap and you cant make them sound loud with out sounding like ****. There are some exceptions if your heavily modded. But really how can you stand the sound of a loud 3800 it has an auto trans as well so it makes it even worse.

im a full blown fan of every full 3 inch set up ive heard on this board. they are by far the best sounding regardless what brand of mufflers are used.

well there was a guy yesterday with a built to **** l67 cammed and stuff with no exhaust. and when he got on it people were describing it as a single motor prop plane, a garbage disposal, and a vomiting giraffe. so id go with a stock system on that note

Headers will be my first and last exhaust mod. Most likely at least. Headers change the tone in a positive way and sound pretty good on the stock exhaust system. I don't get why people like to go super loud, but to each their own. Go for it!

With a lopey cam they sound really nice at an idle with a loud/open exhaust system but the only way to make a 3800 sound good getting on it is by adding turbo spool!

I had a stupid loud GTP. Thought it was cool when I was 17.

I now have a pretty good sounding setup, which grumbles at idle, but quiets out as soon as you get on the throttle, which I personally like.

I much prefer the sound of my wagon to the GP, but it has extra cylinders and a not retarded firing order.
