I have a 99 gtp with 130,000 miles. The speedo needle sticks from about 30 to 55 and every ware in between. I have the stock needles on it as well. What could it be?

pretty sure its called a stepper motor. i had to have the cluster in my truck rebuilt. much cheaper to find some one on e bay to ship it to and have them rebuild it vs the dealer, dealer will flat out rape you. not something the average person can change, stuff needs to be calibrated.

dealer wanted 5 or 600 i got it done for a little over a 100.

or find a junk yard car, same year and take its cluster and swap it in your car. or e bay once again.

search ebay, for GM or Pontiac cluster repair. a bunch will show up, i used a guy in conn. had great reviews and real fast turn around time.

not something you can do yourself, unless you can program the cluster with the latest programming and calibrate the new stepper motors. this is why the dealer charges a arm and a leg.

or buy a used cluster and swap it in.

Pretty sure you just solder in the new stepper motors. Calibration is putting the needle on pointing the right way.

I used the guy in eBay for fixing the abs brake module, $50 and 5 days and it was fixed.
