I would say anywhere from $500 upwards of $1500 depending on where you go.
If you do it yourself, the cost of the compressor, and its not that hard its like 3 bolts on the front then the nut holding on the line in the back.

I paid near 900 dollars about 5 years ago on my 97, compressor was leaking. They used GM compressor, refill ac etc. my ac works great since then, I have not had any problems.

Delphi is cheap on Rockauto. For the charge, I'd suggest having the system vac'd down and filled properly. Also the orifice tube and accumulator aka drier should be replaced.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I bought the AC compressor, Orifice tube, oil and Dryer online for about $150 somewhere. I do encourage you to do as Bill suggested with the evac and refill.
