A scan tool that can read ABS codes will tell you weather there is a circut fault or a wheel bearing itself is bad.

keep in mind some of the budget OBD reader like the $50 model at Walmart will only read engine code. You'd need a pricier model that reads everything so head to a mechanic if you don't have one. The one my Dad uses at his auto shop is around $4,000 but it can do everything including adding key fob, relearning, etc.

no like a abs code scanner. make sure it covers your year make and model car, read the reviews.

but some newer cars some abs codes will come up on a regular code scanner. they did on my friends 04 GM truck.

It can be a wheel bearing going bad, wiring issue (bad grounds somewhere or clipped), bad sensor on wheel bearing, or the EBCM module can be going bad.

unless you find bad wires, or a loose hub, its best to scan it as hubs are pricey to be just tossing parts at a abs problem.

most shops will charge you up to 75 bucks for the abs scan, or a cheap on line abs scanner can be found for about 50, more or less.
