How can I go about hooking my laptop up to my car to get realtime readouts on coolant temps, transmission temps, and other readouts? I'm beginning not to trust the gauges on my cluster.

What software is best and what connection cable do I need?

    Thanks.

torque app is cheap and works well, if you have a smart phone that is.

theres a few thread covering it here.

25 bucks or over 400? its a no brainer, unless you want to get into tuning the engine.

One thing I want to do is lower the temp at which my fans come on. Can I do this with Torque?

no. you need a tuner program like dhp and its not cheap.

Could always buy a cheap android phone and use it just for the torque app. That's what I considered doing at one point in time and using a old Infuse that I have instead of my Iphone but got smart and just bought a Aeroforce instead.

HP Tuners or DHP tuning software.

Both cost a fair amount, HPT on the higher side at 500 bucks.

But if all you want to do is lower the fan turn on temps and other very minor things but not wanting to mod the car and make more power with it, all that money will be a waste. It takes a long time to learn about tuning and how the car works with all these different sensor's and various other stuff.
