But it's an Ecotech.
I watched that whole video too, I hate that I did that. I have also forgot how fast my car is. I have a 99 GTP 4door and only had it about a month or two before the transmission went bad. Sucks. Anyway, it's been sitting in the garage waiting on money. Hopefully within a month or so I'll have it together to get it fixed. On a side note, my wife has an 05 Honda Accord V6. I don't remember by GTP being as fast as her Honda, but maybe it is. If not, I'd like to get my GTP to be about as fast as a V6 Accord or an 04-05ish Maxima. If I go by the modding your 3800 link in Blueguy's sig, where would I need to stop to be about stock Maxima fast? If I went all the way to the pulley drop (3.5 - 3.4) the way Blueguy says to do it, what could I expect in 1/4 mile times, and what to expect compared a maxima? Thanks guys.
I still haven't gotten around to any performance mods whatsoever, since I've been derp'ing around with various maintenance and upgrades that I've wanted to do before tossing any go-fast stuff at it (common sense upgrades such as the brakes and hoses).
But I still took great joy in putting a friend's 4 cylinder Camry in his proper place, even though he had a 30 MPH running head start and I was accelerating on green from a dead stop. He finally threw in the towel at about 70 MPH.
I like my GTP and I think its a pretty fast car. Its not my only car so I have things to compare it to. Its not like a modded GNX fast or some Big Block car fast, but the Grand Prix in general exceeds expectations and definitely gets out of its own way. I've only done minimal mods and standard maintenance and I've always been happy with its performance. I have good tires and brakes, Mobil one oil, new coil packs, wires, Iridium plugs, full tranny service. The only performance mods are a ZZP" 3inch DP with Hi flow cat into 3" mandrel bent pipes and solo-performance mufflers(1,400 custom build) and a K&N filter in the stock housing. Car definitely gets up. A local track here when the temps are nice I run about 9.93 in the 1/8th mile (Un-modded Mustang GT's run about 10 and crappy drivers about 10.5). I know there's a Million more mods I could have done and a lot more power to be had, but I ultimately I had to make a decision if I wanted to go crazy with it or not. I liked how it drove and performed as is so I started my 85 Monte carlo project. Swapped V6 for a 350 and started upgrading from there. That's really the car I've put more and time(and money) into.
We get it you're the god of fast. Try reading my post again. Or did you read it too fast.
1/8 Mile is all we got. Lancaster speedway. And its a garbage track too. No one runs good times, the place is a dump. Nearest 1/4 mile tracks are 45 minutes to and hour away. I'm just not that serious enough of a racer to want to drive 45 minutes each way on a Thursday night. Besides Im selling the car Saturday. I've got one where the rear wheels spin.
Yeah, between me and the wife we've got 4 cars. It would be nice to move one and save some garage space. Besides are my whips are mint. Its just tough setting aside time to clean 4 cars let alone maintain them. Plus a 9 month old, you know the story. Plus I had about 75,000 in flood damage this summer, insurance covering none of it. The cash wont hurt.
