whats the best tire size to use on 18'' rims with ssc springs was thinking of using 245/45/18

like you said. any other size isn't worth your time.

unless you're trying to stretched so you can tuck, but i have high doubts that you are running anything wider than 8" wheels.

I got those all the way around on my gxp. Bought it like that.
