Took a trip down to Kentucky to get out on the lake and a couple of days ago antifreeze started leaking through my passenger side floorboard. It happens normally when I start the car and some will come through the floorboard. I had the same issue with my firebird and had to get the heater-core replaced. Thats what im assuming it is but I thought I would see if anyone could help me out a little more. How can I tell its the heater-core and or that it is something else. Any direction would be great since im gonna have to drive back to Ohio at the end of the week!

Definately heater core. Bypass the heater core(in engine bay), splice the in/out of core together(rubber hose feed and return) with a pipe nipple and hose clamps

Can I access it through the passenger side without taking anything off? and should I be expecting antifreeze to poor out of the pipes when I take it off?

Yea antifreeze will come out. Under the hood behind the belt tensioner u will see to 1 inch hoses those run to the heater core

To replace the heater core its located on the passenger side behind the dash. I cant remember how much work it is to get to but id say u have to take it all apart

Do the splice from engine bay(against firewall, in the middle), a little anti-freeze will be lost..not much but don't forget to fill resevoir.
Do the heater core in fall or whenever you have $90 for the core and a day to put it in.

Alright thank you much, I will go ahead and get that done here in the next day or two then replace the heater core before it gets cold.

you can take one hose off the heater core side, and one off the engine, loop the hose back to the engine. free core by pass, no clamps or fittings needed. use the clamps that are there.

the core its self is dead center of the dash, you need to take out the console, the cardboard foot covers, then start pulling bolts from both sides of the hvac box, the rear seat vents need to be pried out of this box, as well as the carpet pulled down some.

if you leave one hose on the core, from the fire wall, then blow through it good and hard, this will blow out the extra coolant.

once you got all them bolts out and the covers off and can see the core, if you follow the pipes to the fire wall, you'll find a small bolt holding the lines up there to the fire wall, (7 or 8 mm iirc) bolted on the inside just to make it harder. keep those pipes high when pulling it out, and nothing more will spill. all the bolts you looking to take out are gold too. and small hex heads. 1/4 inch drive ratchet/ nut drivers will be all you need.

this is a 4 hour job easy, on your back in twisted up positions you never thought you'd be in, inside the car, short of sex maybe. some take out the front seats for more room.

there are a few how to's here, one with pics, but you dont see much, its all tight and hard to get good pics.
