hey guys really hope you can help me out with this. I bought this car last year in the cruise hasn't worked since I bought it. The fuses are good and there is power getting to the cruise control box under the hood but my cruise control still wont engage. somewhere I read that the traction control system can affect the cruise control. When I start the car the low trac light will light up to show me that the bulb is working but the traction off light does not. does that make a difference? any help would be greatly appreciated

Any of the 3rd brake lights out?

If they are, CC won't work.

Cable could be disconnected from the throttle body....clip may have broke when/if someone did the intake gaskets.

    Hi all--

Would like to second this question as I also have a '99 GTP with the same issue. Cruise control worked for about two days after I bought the car, and it hasn't worked since. I already replaced both 3rd brake lights to no avail. I'll check the throttle body next. Failing at that, the button could just be worn out, the previous owner clearly used it a ton (the paint for the lettering is long gone).

Check your other brake lights. Any tail light/brake light being out could cause CC not to work.

    Does your TC lock up?

I don't believe mine does. In the rain not too long ago I had to stop on the brakes and pretty much only the right front tire locked up. Also this isn't the original engine piece of crap dealer never told me that when I bought it its a 98 supercharged engine

Just a wild question, do you have any problems turning the key to off position? I had a 99 that did this and it turn out to be a brake switch, but it also caused problems with the brake-switch-shift interlock system.

The brake switch fixed both, until the key switch went bad later. :-(

    Hi 99stockgtp--

I'm not licensed to practice in Indiana but I'm pretty sure putting a different engine in the car (in this case, a '98 engine in your '99 car) means the car has to come with a rebuilt title. If the dealer didn't do this, then he's on the hook for some serious misrepresentation.

That said, I'm not aware of any major differences between an L67 built in '98 or '99, apart from the fact that Bob built one and Bubba built the other.

As far as tires locking up, none of them should if your ABS is working properly. That sounds like a sensor or an electrical problem (and if the latter, could explain why your cruise control doesn't work).

4THGENCAMAROFAN: Yeah, mine locks up at ~45 MPH with no problem if I'm easy enough on the gas, although 50 is more common.

it figures. When I went to the license branch here in Indiana they questioned why the dealer had sold me a car with a Kentucky title but nothing about a rebuilt. The dealer is just shady all around. don't buy from Andrews auto sales in Evansville

    Hi 99stockgtp--

I would first try getting this sorted out with the dealership. See if they will compensate you somehow - tell them they misrepresented the car, and it's cost you X amount of dollars to get it set right. Unless they explicitly told you the vehicle was sold "As-is", but that's probably still subject to state law re: rebuilt title.

Kentucky has rebuilt titles, too, so that shouldn't be the issue - if a dealership in Evansville was selling cars with KY titles it sounds like he was just being cheap and avoiding title fees by not having it retitled.

Failing at talking to the dealership, I'd take the case to the BBB. Being a 1999 it's probably not worth suing over, the attorney's fees would be many times any recovery you'd make.

i dont think they are supposed to with hold that kind of info about the car, unless they were trying to wash the title.

id be all over them for that crap. especially if you paid full price for it.
