I heard you have to put a wire to the vehicle speed sensor and been looking on how to do that part of it . soon I am going to pull the dash apart again to see if there are any hidden plugs hanging around to fit it.. Also someone said that certain code readers will program these.. $100.00 to get gm to do it..
I just checked on my Maxidas scan tool and there is an option to do the vin relearn on the Nav radio. Too bad you're so far away, I would be glad to do it for you.

I am going to plug it all in and see what happens. they may have included the vss wire in 2008 models. Will have to wait to try it.
Thanks, Apparently my disc is locked inside the radio so I will try my friends scanner at his shop, apparently it has the ability to do it. You say there is a dark green wire from inside the dash area for the VSS? I would think the XM radio and the OnStar is all in the wire harness. Usually the wires are on the harness on gm vehicles. I know when I did my 70 GTO Dash all the plugs are in there ready for what ever was going in there. Let me know how it goes Thanks

Woke up early today and installed the nav unit. I used the Kenwood antenna from Amazon and routed the wire under the glove box and around the front pillar and affixed to the windshield on the top right corner. Navigation takes a minute to lock on to a satelite but once it does it works well. The unit had an old (2004) nav disc in it. I am still waiting on my 2010 disc from ebay. The turn by turn nav on the hud doesn't work, there is a write up on lstech if you want to swap wires to make it work, but I don't miss it that much so I am not going to bother with it. There is also a way to wire up the microphone if you want voice commands to work, but again that is no big deal to me. Overall it was well worth the trouble to install the unit. Nothing like that Pontiac logo popping up on the screen when you turn the key on! My Maxidas was able to do the vin relearn with no problem. A couple of things to note: The date on the DIC no longer works and the clock on the radio doesnt work. There is a disc you can buy on EBAY that fixes the clock issue with a firmware update. I am not sure if that fixes the date on the DIC, but I never have the date up on the DIC anyway. I also ordered a laser cleaner from Ebay. The player skips a little, but from the reviews the cleaner usually works after a couple of cleanings. I am still happy and got my $99 worth.

How did it work out with the NAV installation? Did you find that Vss green wire in the dash?

The VSS wire is integrated into the wiring harness connector. IT'S just plug and play.
