This is the 3rd time this has happened and it's the worst time. Try to make a somewhat quick left turn and the car doesn't go. The first 2 times, it seemed to just stutter enough to throw me forward and bit. Then you could hear something make a loud noise and I'd go. This morning, came to almost a complete stop, went to make the left turn, car made it almost all the way through the turn, then pretty much just stopped. I am pretty sure that I heard the drivers side tire still trying to go (sounded like a spinning tire on pavement), but the passenger side was at a dead stop. Finally heard that loud noise (I don't want to say a boom noise, that sounds ridiculous, but that's almost the only way to describe it) and I finally went. She did seem to stutter once, but she has 188K on her and sometimes she just does that.
Could this be a sticking caliper? Or a caliper that is re-closing itself? I know when my brakes get low, my front brakes will stick when trying to leave from a full stop at times. Usually in the rain. So this was my first thought.
I know a bit about mechanics, my Dad taught me years ago. But you know that was Le Mans' and Chevelles and the such and now, cars are MUCH more complicated. Before I take this into a shop (single woman...you know how some of them can be) I want to get a general idea what could be wrong.
Thanks in advance for all your help!!
