I have a bad wheel speed sensor in my right front wheel that causes my ABS to act up at low speeds. I dont have the time or cash to get this fixed right now so i pulled the ABS fuse (#23) and problem solved, i can deal with the TC,ABS, and Brake lights being on. I found that pulling that fuse makes my steering stiffer, its not as stiff as when my PS pump went, but there is a difference.

I can still hear the pump so I know its still functioning, but is there a component to the power steering system that shuts down when the ABS is out? I know that driving without any PS can ruin the steering rack, but will this cause any harm?

    Thanks

Maybe that's the same fuse for your magnasteer? Now you turn like a base model.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

some how the abs and magna steering are tied together, sometimes if the abs light comes on the steering can get stiff. so pulling the fuse could cause it. put the fuse back, if the steering is normal you know thats what caused it.

Scotty: replacing the fuse did bring back the magnasteer.

I was not aware Magnasteer was an option, thought it was just GM's "brand name" for power steering. I actually like this stiffer steering, can anyone give me a good reason why I shouldnt run without Magnasteer? I know running without PS can ruin the rack, but will going without Magsteer hurt anything?

the manga steer is power assist, electrical. no idea if its bad for the rack or not for it to not be powered.

it makes the steering easier or harder depending on your speed.

My car has been like that for at least a year (that's when I got it). my abs light has always been on and my steering so going without magnasteer will be fine.

Your EBCM Controls the function for your magnasteer actuator in the steering rack. Bad ebcm or no fuse = no magnasteer
