Thread: high pitch noise when accelerating

I just noticed when i opened windows.
Its whining when i push the pedal and goes away when get faster.

Its not so loud like a power steering pump though.

What might it be?

Ya, I can hear mine driving slow when the car is warmed up. Think it's normal. Take the belt off and try to wiggle all the pulleys just to be sure.

could be the p/s pump, or the alt as well. take the belt off and give em all a spin.

also check the p/s fluid.

Btw if i push the pedal on idle it doesnt make a sound. Only when i drive and after between 2k - 3k rev

A whine? pulley, pump, etc

If everything on the belt drive checks out, look into the transmission. Have someone go with you so when its making the noise you can switch places and see if its louder on one side rather than the other.

I used to get the same thing in my 01 gtp. Never did figure it out in 140k miles.

Its like a dog whistle sound.
You can't hear it on idle, only when i drive and accelerate over 2k rpm you hear it for 2 seconds than its gone after gear.
But its not only on first or second gear.
Its when u accelerate.

You cant hear it when windows are closed. Only when windows open.

I found it.
The noise coming out of my cold intake.

And making sucking noise and high pitch.

Is this normal?

Umm ya, most ppl install/ make an intake just for the sound.

Mine doesnt make any nice sound.
Only make the car noisy at idle (sucking sound)

When i drive it whistle.

It should only make a sucking sound when it's cold. Once your car warms up it should go away. Try putting the factory air intake/box back on.
