Ride has over 290K and has been babied all the way. She has had everything put on new as they blow out or before. In the last 75K I replaced the new fuel pump, new crank shaft sensor, and new mass air flow sensor. The check engine light has been going on and off for a year with no actual problems. I recently had a short shaft installed, the check engine light must have been reset. I went to work one day and she just died on me. It started right back up and I went home and it never would restart. After sitting for a few days, I read online that one remedy may be to put the pedal to the floor. She started with lots of white smoke and running very rich. I've been told that it could be the computer, MAP sensor, fuel pump resistor, etc.

Does anyone out there have a suggestion for a rookie.

PS, First Post and thanks to those who put this site together...

These are the codes it gave at the garage when they were putting new short shaft. They were looking at why the ABS light was on and found:
    PO137 02 Signal low,
    Bank 1 Sensor 2,
    P0141 02 Heater Circuit,
    Bank 1 Sensor 2
    P0243 Boost Solenoid
    A/Boost Control Circuit
    P1571 TCS PWM Circuit
    No Frequency Signal

It ran fine for a few days after they turn off the light and said they could fix ABS problem.
Then problem started of quiting a few days later. I had loaner code reader later after I had unpluged everything under the hood to see it would start and it didn't. Pluged it all back in, and it started after hold the pedal to the floor method. Unplugged the MA sensor during running and not must difference. I just can understand all the rich smoke...

    Thanks for help/post

Here are some questions I would ask:

Does your smoke smell like raw fuel or is it sweet?

Did you just get gas before this incident?

Did the gas come from your normal place or some place different?

After you hold it to the floor and get it started, does it stay running?

Does the motor seem to labor hard when running?

You are going to laugh, but, if you haven't done so, check your oil and coolant. Make sure they are not mixing or are low. It almost sounds like a headgasket issue due to the white smoke and not starting until it is floored and that you are having multiple codes from the same bank AND a Boost code error. I can see how a head gasket would throw all 3 of these codes .....but, that may be jumping too far ahead in the game without some more basic troubleshooting.

Try unplugging the maf and see if that helps the situation.

If no, check fuel pressure at the rail.

    Seems like it's simple
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
