I was on the dipyourcar forums and I ran across this. Anyone know about this kind of setup?

I never knew these came supercharged so I'm very curious.

Whipple setup on a ford 4.6 motor.

They don't come supercharged, its a fully built motor from the looks of it.

I may be wrong on the whipple part, it might be a regular supercharger off of a cobra. Either way its pretty cool.

Looks like an eaton m112 on a 4.6L DOHC motor most likely out of a cobra but there's no way to tell that part for sure

How can you tell? I didn't think you could pop a roots style blower on the SOHC engines

That would be Scott Vitelli (Dr. FrankenCougie or BigScott on most forums) and his 94 Cougar "Cougie". He also has a nice 98 Lincoln Mark VIII "Linky".

Here's what I have from back in '02 on it:

'94 Cat,'01 Cobra short block (Manley rods, B&B'd, CP forged pistons, Moly rings, ARP hardware, .020 over, Polished Cobra crank,) '99 PI 2V heads (CNC ported and polished, SS valves, Ti retainers, HD springs, 3 angle VJ), Extrude honed manifolds, MSD DIS4, Custom exhaust, '03 Cobra intake tube, Dual bore Maraurder TB, Custom M90 roots blower setup, Custom dog food bucket air box, 90mm LMAF, 42 LB injectors, Pro Torque TC, M8 Drive shaft, FRPP 3.73 pumpkin, Custom valved Bilstiens, Eibachs, Kenny Brown suspension braces, Addco 1 3/4 sway bars, 245/40/18X8fr & 275/45/18X9R, and more custom stuff every day.

And yes, some STOCK T-birds and Cougars came S/C'd. The 88-89 Cougar XR7's were a blown 3.8L, and the 94-95 Birds could be s/c'd as well. Not quite what Scott has done, but they did come with an Eaton on them.

Going with what FordMan said, on the Valve Cover, it has the letters "SOHC". FordMan pointed out that it has '99 PI 2V Heads. I did a info dump on all my Ford stuff when I traded away my Stang LOL.

m90 is what you put on it if you want to scare mother****ers.

but not with that giant ass pulley.

theres a roush kit that people commonly run 2.55" pulleys with.

    That screams something fierce.

You know what the sad part is?

I bet that fully built sock mmmninty mess with that huge dinner plate and such probably doesn't even make much more than 350 RWHP...if that.

its an m90, its pretty limited.

m112 or tvs1900 or 140ax would be a better choice.

    perhaps a pair of turbos?

True. I can't remember what the final numbers were. I know back in '02 he ran a 12.7 with that setup. Full weight. That Cougar is setup to run the twisties, not really the 1/4. The aftermarket for the MN12/FN10 platform sucked, and still does, lol... Not many choices out there w/o having a deep wallet. There some SVO's out there.
