2004 GT2 Stock and original, 226k, No aftermarket intercooler-

Last Thursday and today I took road trips of nearly identical distances, stops, driving habits, and outside temps of about 35-40F. On both trips, my engine temperatures remained between 184 and 190. Every so often (maybe twice a year) my transmission goes into max adapt shift mode "MA", but stopping and restarting clears it. Last Thursday it went MA on me. Both trips went about like this: Two hours of highway driving with one 10 minute stop about halfway through, 20 minutes of city driving followed by a one hour stop, then two hours of highway driving- straight shot.

Last Thursday when I got MA I pulled up transmission temp on the DIC, in the city it registered 194F. I did not stop to clear it since I was getting on the highway and would maintain constant speed with little to no shifting. The whole ride back the temp stayed at 194, did not budge.

Today, It did not go MA on me, but I was curious where my temp would be since I was taking the same route in the same conditions. I got on the highway and the trans did not go above 158F.

Would MA cause such an increase in temps? The last time I got MA was last summer, it was 98 outside and I had been stuck in stop and go Boston traffic, my trans got up to 228 and fell to 206 once I got on the open highway and stayed there all the way to Bangor.

Other than the two MA incidents, the car shifts beautifully, the trans fluid is the perfect color and does not have the slightest burnt smell to it. I dont know if the old owners flushed it ever but I know its the original trans, I have owned the car since 199k.
