Well its deffinetly some sort of oil might be cv boot or power steering maybe. Did you try turning the opposite way and then left again
Yes. It was pretty hard to turn it left but eventually it turned left.
The mechanic said he filled the steering fluid. But now I need to pay for this too.
It was making a sound of a remote control car by the steering pump when trying to turn hard
2 threads?
Raise the car, check the front end. Find the leak and you will know for sure. Since the whole area looks wet, the fluid looks clear and all I see is a film I would say it could be anything.
Power steering fluid is clear going in, but not that way when it leaks out, looks dark like oil.
Oil pans in these cars are know for leaking.
Without checking for sure you can be certain its either something bad or nothing at all. After all wet pavement shows film from other cars oil leaks over time, happens all over the place. Speculation isn't a good thing in this case, you need to know for sure.
if it's hard turning left at low speeds or when you are stopped it's probably your steering rack
That nice rainbow effect is from a type of oil. Oil can be found in the trans fluid, ps fluid, brake fluid, gas and the oil itself.
So you can conclude that when you actuated the steering the leak occurred. Which could then suggest that it's steering related!
i put the cr at the car shop for the same guy, im asking cz im afraid he will charge me for more stuff i dont need.
this happened after i took the car from him after sitting there for a week fixing intakes leak to the motor.
i never had this happened before i had the car at the car shop. i was about to u turn on low speed and i couldn't turn. then he saw me outside so he moved the steering right and left and there was puddles of this rainbow fluid which i dont know if engine oil or the power steering fluid. the pump made some noise when tried to turn hard. but when i drove back the noise stopped.
im pretty sure he has something to do with that. since i didnt have it before.
he said he filed the ps pump cz it was low, which is weird i never asked for it.
he broke by mistake ny gas intake and put a different hose. maybe its this.
ohhh and he added dex cool to my yellow coolant.
now i have to leave the car for more 2 days cz hes busy. he said i would pay for the fix/
how much i should pay?
Sounds to me to find a different shop from what i got out of that.
That can happen if you overfill the pwr steering reservoir, right? As you turn, fluid is displaced, and pressure builds up, eventually the fluid is being forced past the cap on the reservoir. Check that, as well as the rack and hoses/lines.
If it wasn't doing that before you took it there, I would expect him to work something out or I would find another shop to take it to.
some mechanics are really great and work on repeat business built from a good reputation for good work, others work off of repeat business because the fixed one thing and "fixed" another so you come back to get that part fixed again, until they think they got enough out of you or you move on. Seen it first hand.
My mother went to a shop to get an alignment, when she left she made it a block and went to stop and had no brakes. E-brake worked fortunately, but the psycho loosened off both banjo bolts. Told my mother that the brakes felt soft when he was backing it off the alignment machine and to get them checked, she said another time, she just had me replace the pads a couple months prior, we both knew they weren't soft. Brake fluid all over the both front wheels and a puddle where it was parked. I was furious, went and talked to the owner, straight guy, explained to him, guy was fired on the spot. Shop lost reputation after a few more event and word got out, its no longer there but you can never tell with some people.
Gotta protect yourself.
Well like he said, if it didn't do it before, then most likely. And you said that they filled it for you. Check the reservoir though, overfilling is bad, just like under filling. If it's way too full then it's their fault.
