So i picked up a 98 gtp a couole days ago with some issues. Mainly ones i had noticed where a little exterior rust smashed front bumper(i already got a new one) and it clearly needed a LIM well upon further inspection of the car the oil seepage i had noticed seems worst then i had hoped not horrible. Only leaving a few drops in the garage seems to be coming from the oil pan. The worst part though that i didnt notice when purchasing was the rockers are almost gone. Bright side is the tranny seems pretty good and i was told it was replaced around 70k ago. Anyway i think i could probably dump the car or definatley part it out and make some money on it. But i was wondering what you guys thought should i just do the LIM drive it til it blows and use it for a parts car or is a motor with 230k on it not worth the few hundred bucks when its leaking oil too. Or do i find a junkyard motor put it in and drive the wheels off this thing.

Fix the lim. Don't worry about the the minor oil pan leak until it gets worse. Drive it to the wheels fall off. Or drive it for awhile and sell it. Way I see it right now is that you got a perfect DD no sense it parting it out until something major goes wrong and its not worth fixing,
Squirrels are my engine. I need a Ford Regal

You mean leaking the oil? I know the lim is bad and from the looks of underneath the car the oil pan gasket is bad too.

My 98 is slowly beginning to come around, the right rocker is almost gone to the point it sh1ts rust in my driveway. I was thinking the same thing fix a little then trade/ dump it. Now after all the work and effort, it has grown on me and as for performance it's great.

Grand Prix are like kids, they drive you nuts, then one day surprise you and you realize why you kept them.

It's really up to you if you like the car or not, rockers suck but oh we'll you don't notice it by looking at it, don't the lim and just drive it, 230k miles really isn't a lot for a 3800

Just fix the lim and drive it. I haven't had to put much into my car. I'm going to drive it until it rusts in half but it'll be cammed and ic by that time.

hope you didn't pay to much for it because i seen a 99' on craigslist today in kalamazoo for 1500 needs a new steering rack but the engine only has 149,000. as for your car just fix it and make it your daily driver.

How bad is the lim like milky coolant or you just wanna do it to prevent failure? Honestly for $700 I'd just drive it as is a barley keep it on the road it's worth $500 in scrap lol

That was actually why i got it in the first place. But i always wanted one of these cars so i decided to f with it and see what happens. The tranny is solid so i figure if i fix the lim i can run it for a while and play with it with some bolt ons. and the lim is toast i took it apart today and it is way worst then i thought
