Thread: Want to get a Grand Pix GXP. ( Need opionions)

Hey i forgot to mention, im looking into the impalas and you guys think the 06+ impala LTZ with the 3.9L 242HP engine is a quick car like the GTP are half as quick and any good mods? or just stick with the SS models?

I dunno personally I've never driven an ltz. Although the impalas in general I'm not a big fan of...just something about the exterior and interior that doesn't appeal to me.

I don't even think there is any aftermarket support for the 3.9. The GTP will still be faster. Regal GS's are nice and can be had with low miles.

Ya i kinda not liking those impalas the only one i like is the SS V8 and the 04-05 SS S/C, But i cant find any around here at all. Well the S/C ones the V8 i found like only 2 or 3 but not in that good condition.

Hey i looked up the Regal GS and found a 98 and 99 with low miles but it just does not look that sporty and has a single muffler and not dual like the GP/SS. Are they still just as fast as the GTPs? Also the 06+ GP GT are just the same as the GTP just new series 3 engine and just called GT?

Ive been looking at some other cars as back ups if i could not find a GTP, GXP, SS or regal and i cam up with the 03+ Nissan Altima 3.5, and the mazda 6 V6 sedan. What you guys think of these cars good cars and easy to work on and mod?

Hey what do you guys think of the Nissan Altima 3.5se? Ive seen lots of them for sale so are they good and reliable? Ive seen people mod them and they are pretty quick. ALso what about the Buick Regal GS they dont look all that sporty but if it has the 3800 S/C engine it will as fast as a GTP wont it?

I wanted to know a couple more things, i for got to ask that is there anything bad or any damaged i could cause to the engine or Transmission or anything on the Grand Prix GXP if i put it into Neutral a lot and Rev it? Why i ask, is cause who does not want to hear a awesome V8 and intimidate someone or some ricer, lol. I want to know so i can do it or just leave it be and drive the dang car.

Last thing is not on the GXP but the GTP and any other W-Body with the S/C 3800. If i beat on it or like you guys say "Abuse" it from time to time, is it less likely to have the Transmission go out LESS faster on the GTP than on the GXP since the GTP has less power than the GXP? Also can the tranny, if i baby it from time to time, last longer as long as i maintain it well? Any tips on what to do to make it last longer will help too.

Thanks again and im still wanting the GXP, BUT mods have gotten very addicting so i kinda want the GTP. Also i love the S/C, Thanks guys for the help in advance.

True i got to be gentle on it. All these cars are great and will get which ever one i can find for a great price and in great shape. That is IF i can find any around here.

Ill make a new thread i think but how good are the new 2012+ Impala's with the 300HP V6? I rented one and it was great but just too low to the floor and the side mirror were SMALL. Is it possibly to replace the mirrors for bigger ones? And are they pretty good so far and reliable? I know it has great power, pretty quick too.
