My woman's 97 grand prix doesn't spray fluid anymore. I haven't had a chance to look at it but she says that it does not make a sound when she tries to clean the salt and road spray off her windshield. Has anyone had to replace the wiper fluid pump or wiring? What is the most likely cause? The pump right?

well id start with checking if theres any washer fluid left, lol. if there is fluid, then likely its the pump, its on the bottom of the tank and you get to it from the fender well, you need to take some of the plastic clips off and get under the splash shield. or possibly get to it from under the car, reaching up to it.

I believe my pump is bad also, glad you made this thread so I didn't have to! It sucks in these winter months not having the washer fluid. I'd check to see if your pump is getting power before replacing it, use a test light.

you got that right^^^^the cheap 3 dollar test light will work. sometimes the plug end can get dirty as well, try cleaning it and work it back on and off a few times, it may come back to life.

Wind shield washer pump is easy to check/replace on the 97 seeing they have the windshield washer fluid resevoir over top of the battery and not down in the fender well. Remove diagonal brace undo a few fasteners then unplug the electrical harness. You could test for power at the pump harness plug before replacing the pump too.

They are easy to replace regardless. 97 just pull the one out and put the new one in 98+ crank the wheel to the drivers side and reach in there and do the some. Helps to jack it up.

I just replaced the washer pump in my gp couple of weeks ago. Pretty easy job. Take the wheel off and pull the wheel well lineing back so you got lots of room to work.

Ok cool, looks like I may just take a trip to the salvage yard since it's like a GP graveyard there.

If the washer tank is completely empty or full it likely doesn't work. Look for one that's about half way full and make sure it works before you leave.

Yea I'm going to see if they have a car with the keys to test it. Otherwise, maybe I can ask them if I can put it on my car while I'm there before I buy it.

Just snip the harness going to it and hook it to a battery

Just replaced mine, $15.99 from autozone, took maybe 5 minutes to change. Just turn the wheel all the way to the left, take the 5 bolts out that hold the bottom splash guard in place, the pump is right there. Just unplug the connector at the top of the pump and try to put it up somewhere out of the way so it doesn't get wet. Pull the pump out and hold your finger on the hole in the tank. Make sure the 'gasket' comes out of the tank, and put the new pump in it's place. Put everything back together.
