Mt gtp with 63k miles on it has developed a ticking noise. It started out of nowhere after a long drive one night. it only shows itself after about a 20 mile freeway drive, or if you run the car out past 5k rpm as i found out tonight getting on the freeway shortly after starting the car. The tick is most prevalent between 3k-4500 rpm and more so if you just keep reving the car.
i have had it to a shop where they checked it over with a mechanics stethoscope and the guy told me that he didnt hear anything internal, and that all he could hear was a pully grinding. he said he was sure it was a valve or lifter when he first heard it but the stethoscope said otherwise, and i should look for exhaust leaks.
so then i went to a exhaust shop they said they didnt see anything out of the ordinary and since they waited to long and let the car cool a bit they couldnt hear it
so then i had a friend look it over. after hearing it he said he doubted a exhaust leak as it was too metallic sounding but to him it didnt appear to come from within the engine either and that i should check the accessories
I have noticed no drive ability issues. Car runs absolutely great. it does seem that i have lost a bit of gas mileage, but that probably just the winter blend gasoline, and having to drive in rush hour more, and i have noticed a slight vibration at lights (minimal though)
its very hard to hear it in the video and the engine noise and injectors can kind of cancel the tick out
