So I just picked up a set of new factory headlight housings for my 04 GTP. My question is is it worth it to got with the morimoto 50w elite kit or just stick with the 35w. I'd love to do a projector retrofit, but I don't have the patience and the tedious skill to breakdown and retrofit. Any advice would be appreciated!

You will only need 35w. And it takes patience to do it. You already have the original set on the car, so this should give you ample time to do a retro. Get it done.. son!

Trust me I plan on triple checking myself lol. How exactly do you mount the mini to the housing? The four mounting points? Or the lock ring on the back end of the projector. Found a couple vids on YouTube about mini upgrades and they used the ring on the back, but haven't seem anything about the grand prixs. And what are the d2s or whatever they are called bulbs?

    You want morimoto mini h1's.

You will use jb stick or quik steel to hold the projectors in place.

Several ways you can mount them. Lock ring method won't work in 04+ the projector lenses will hit the headlight lenses. Most will use jb weld or quick steel to set the projector in place and you can leave it like that or add even more support and once everything is dry use screws to mount it. Be aware that when using jb weld or quicksteel you gotta make sure the projector cutoff is where you want it and hold it in place until it drys. It can be hard the first time getting it right.

I have a way I think I can use the ring on the back to mount it, but I really can't illustrate it or try it till Christmas, grrrr lol. I deff want to put in the demon eye, just gotta figure out what type of bulb drunkie used, and I'm also gonna get the xb halos as well

Unless you find a different way then the previous 6 ways I tried to mount them with the rings..good luck lol. It all sounds doable until you crack them open and try. Just giving you a heads up. 8mm and is what you use for the demon eye.

Pretty much my idea is as far as I've seen, part of the bowl of the projector sticks out the back. On the back of the headlight there is a flat ring section in which the original bulb spins and lock into, which obviously has to be trimmed out to fit the projector. My though is, just using 2 inch for reference, is cut a piece of 2 inch aluminum pipe the depth between the flat spot on the back of the headlight and the lock ring on the reflector, then use a hole saw and make my own 2 inch washer and tig weld the pipe and washer together, and obviously cut a hole in the center of my washer for the lock ring thread to fit through. I'll have to draw it on paper to show what I'm talking about if you can't make out what I'm envisioning. And where you get the red 8mm bulbs from?

That idea should work I've actually done a previous set using a similar method. What I hated about it was with the mini Gatling shroud the shroud did give enough depth on the projectors so you would see the projector quite a bit especially in the sides. The OCD in me let it bother me lol. Be careful with the welding the reflector is pretty weak itself.

As far as the welding goes I shouldn't have to do it on the headlight, I can do everything off the headlight once sized accordingly. The main reason is I don't want to have to worry as much about having the cutoffs be jacked up once I jn weld them, I can adjust, and mark positions. The reason for aluminum is so that's its strong enough and will fair better than plastic, but not as heavy as steel and possibly won't make the headlight butt heavy and make it wobble. Atleast you were able to make out what I was explaining. Usually people just give me the deer in headlights look when I try to explain my ideas lol

Why so many?!?!? And how did you mount the led in the projector? Tried looking closely at drunkie a but it's not a good angle. And I'm kinda going for the one and done retrofit. And can't really see in your picture how the projector is sticking out behind the shroud.

And is the Gatling gun the only one that fits? I remember seeing that in one of the threads

Anybody wanna guess what OEM projector Adaptive headlights cost on a Saab? Used: $500 a piece/New:$650 - minus the ballast/controller which is another $265/per light. Ask me how I know, I may be replacing the Driver's light next week, have to take it to a Saab Dealer to find out if it can be reset and saved.

First one was crappy...cutoff wasn't straight..beginners error. Second one used my oem headlights worked out well but headlights were very pitted and couldn't get the lenses clear to we're I was happy. Third worked fine..meet a local that wanted them so I sold them lol. Forth..sold those. Fifth = TBA in the planning stages lol.

For the demon eyes you mount the Smds right on the front of the solenoid and I used hot glue and it worked out fine. Lmk if you need a picture or something and ill go grab a solenoid and show you what I mean.
