Hello fellas. Decided to register finally. I wanted some opinions on getting rid of the grand prix exhaust drone thats always present around 1700-2k rpms. Currently I have TOG Extreme headers to 2.5" catless pipe to borla mufflers. It actually was a borla cat back system but the guy who had this car before me removed the cat and resonator part.

I like having the car loud. Its really loud right now and I'm fine with that. What im not okay with is the drone thats present that all grand prixs seem to get with loud exhaust. I dont want to get a big resonator or glass pack because then itll probably be too quiet. I dont want it to really be any less loud just less droney at those rpms. My idea was to toss one of these in the pipe around where the resonator would have been:
    Cherry Bomb 87522 Glasspack Muffler : Amazon.com : Automotive
Its A LOT smaller than the 27"+ resonators and glasspacks people ususally get. So I'm thinking it wouldnt quiet it down much but maybe it would get rid of the drone? Thoughts?

I have gone from stock to straight pipes and it seems like the drone is present no matter what aside for telling the cylinders to fire in a different order its always going to be present
I found it the least annoying after glass pack though

right now I'm straight pipes with just a glasspack if you end up wanting a clip to see how it sounds lemme know
I'm sorry officer I didnt know I couldn't do that

Add glasspack as a resonator...think big, like a 28-30" one for thirty bones.

Have it all welded up, and enjoy.

My concern is that with a really big one it will get really quiet as well. Thats why I linked that smaller one, thinking it wouldnt quiet it much but perhaps tone it more...

Also glasspack to straight pipe seems like it would be really too loud. I dont know. I know on my old grand prix I had just a single large dynomax muffler in there like a resonator but I dont think it was a glass pack. It didnt seem to have any drone after headers with that setup and was pretty loud but I dont really wanna get rid of my borlas...

Quiet w/ little to no drone or loud w/ drone you decide. It's a 3800 can't ask to compromise to much ehh? I rather have it quiet w/ less drone then hearing my ears bleed just my $.2. I would get the size glasspack nick was referring to.

I have headers, borla mufflers and stock resonator and get little to no drone. It's louder then stock of course but doesn't give me a headache. Works perfect for what I like.

thats it right there man. there isnt really an in between to get you loud w/o drone lol. the kind of loud it sounds like you prefer is going to have drone.

i honestly dont care about drone so im gunna tell you to go loud haha. so just figure out how much you really care about the drone.

Also take into consideration cabin noise. I love a loud exhaust up until I get into that particular cars cabin I start to hate the ****!

With a turbo 3800's almost sound like a 2JZ. The things I'd do for that noise.

Thread NECRO! Lol. Randomly made a video of my exhaust (cause theres totally no clips of grand prix exhausts out there). So heres how that small cherry bomb turned out. MOSTLY killed the drone while still leaving the car pretty loud. Very happy with it.

Go with the DynoMax VTs, the best muffler for our V6 by far with pretty much no drone at all. If u wanna keep ya Borla mufflers then ya best bet would Be to install the stock resonators back in. Personally, I would put the stock resonators back on regardless. Gotta keep at least the stock resonator or stock muffler to have a pretty good sounding exhaust on these cars. Just my opinion though....

Not your average grocery getter, but theres always at least two things on the list.... 10w-30 Castrol Titanium and Shell 91 premium mixed with a lil 100 octane racing gas......
