I have a base model 06 grand prix. driving this morning the DIC read Service vehicle soon. Book says its a non emisions fault. It still runs and drives fine. Any ideas what it could be? What else do these cars monitor? No other alarms from the car but that.. I do notice that it cranks a little slower when starting and the DIC just reads the straight dashed line, direction and temp upon startup. Didnt read that before this... Thanks for any help.

    Scan it.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.

yeah you need to get a scan because the car will not tell you what wrong, just the cheap mesage. report back with codes and im sure everyone will try and help you get it fixed.

Yeah.. we have a ton of codes that could be. Scanning is the only way to find out what it's unhappy about.

BTW.. an unhappy GP isn't really all that odd..lol
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

If your scanner doesn't work, take it to any of the parts store chains... they scan for free.
