    I was replacing the thermostat in my 2001 GP GT yesterday, and while I had the cover off, I noticed that the spark plug boots have metal covers over them. Is this normal, or something the original owner did? Possibly when he put the 180* thermostat in? (hence replacing the thermostat)

    They are stock. Heat shields.
