So I've got an 01 GT (Base 3800 Series 2 N-A)
and I am looking at a 97 GTP (3800 Series 2 Supercharged)
The GTP has a spun bearing (thats why it's being sold dirt cheap)
I need to know right now, if i can swap my GT engine into it (Taking the PCM with it) and installing it into the GTP
I'm wanting to do this cause the GTP is in alot better shape then my own, and my GT has 152,000kms

It'll be a little more work than just that.
You'd have to use the GT wire harness, GT trans and GT pcm to maybe make it work.
For all the money you'd spend to just swap parts over to that car, you could afford a new "used" short block L67 for the GTP car.

figured there would be alot more to it
best bet would be to find another supercharged engine with low km's?
i really don't wanna get into building an engine at this point in time (would keep the engine out of the GTP for later date)

Just top swap the N/A. Grab the HD trans too.

Personally I'd just fine another L67 motor for the gtp.

All you need to do if you want to put your L36 into that GTP is:
1. Swap the SC'd motors flex onto your engine and lower it in.
2. The the GTP's pcm would need to be reprogrammed for the L36 motor.
3. Change the connector for the map sensor
4. Tape up the connector for the boost soleniod which you wouldn't be using.
My car was supercharged from the factory and is now running an 07 NA motor. Took me about 1 hour longer to change these couple of things than a normal motor swap.
The wiring harnesses are almost identical SC to NA. I modified a harness for my Bonneville SSEi and started out with a NA harness. Added the boost wiring and poof. The other week I swapped a GT NA motor and dropped in a SC for Dtrick, modded his NA harness for the map and SC control..poof
Something not mentioned before is that the pcm's are different between 97 and 98-02. If you follow the four simple steps above...you'd be up and running quickly.
Been there, done it.. got the pictures to prove it.

What I would do:
Pull your motor, drop it into the GTP. Top swap from the GTP Motor onto yours. (Get fresh gaskets, and all that.)
Use the GTP Trans, ECU, ect...
You may want to re-cal the ECU for the higher compression you will get with the L36 Shortblock, but basically you'll end up with a stock GTP when your done. No wiring changes needed.

So Bill, by flex, i think your meaning the flexplate correct??
would it be possible to pull my PCM with my engine for the swap?
by modifying the harness, could you be a little more specific with what you did to it?? P.M me more information on that.
Could i swap my DIC into the GTP aswell?
If i can swap my N-A 3800 into this GTP with little complications I'd be happier than a pig in sh1t, i need a DD not a street stomper.

Flexplate yes.
Pull pcm and wiring harness wtih motor, possible yes, it's also harder than unhooking stuff and flopping the harness to the passenger side of the car. I never touch pcm's when I swap motors.
Wiring changes: The map sensor connector on an L67 (SC GTP motor) is different than the NA motor. There are three wires, cut and solder/heat shrink the one from your old NA car onto the new car. Wire colors match right up, it's an easy cut and solder. Then put tape over the connector going to the boost control soleniod. That is all you need to do for wiring.
If you followed the How to swap a motor thread (by me) and changed these few items...you'd be done about an hour longer than a typical motor swap.

One other thing. Many guys say the fuel line from L36 fit to L67. But you will definately need to consider fuel lines. You could use a Dorman kit to adapt them, or go with a different setup like braided.

So i got talking to a few people over this, and even consulted some part reference manuals and it seems to say in short form, that my 01 engine wont match the 97 trans.... I don't get that, it's a 4T65E-HD trans, and people on here have been swapping them in their N-A gp's since new....
I'll be staring to pull motors in the near future (hopefully this up coming weekend, I've been super busy lately) And my mom n dad keep bugging me "well what if you get it all together and it doesn't run"
What are the possibilities of that, even once i do the above that bill Stated..
