Hello everyone...I bought a 2000 gtp daytona in may for my 50th birthday. It has 205,000 and have enjoyed working on it. It needs a new driver's information center, and a new plaque for the center console. is it worth trying to replace the DIC by yourself or is it better to pay to have it done? I'm new to this forum, and I look forward to interacting with other pumpkin owners!

Plaque might be difficult to find but the dic can be replaced by you. Shop would terrorize your wallets. What is it doing exactly?

    Woot MN guy.

You can take the DIC out and replace the bulbs in them, I think there is a write up on it somewhere on this forum about it.

I read the earlier post about shining a light in it to see if there's still data being transmitted, and i tried that but it's completetly dead and black. I just hate the idea of tearing up the dash...that seems to cause new problems...but I would tackle it if given the right instructions or a decent, relevant youtube video.

The dash cover is only held on by some clips, its pretty easy to pull off and swing around the steering wheel, then once that is off everything from bolts to screws for the radio and hvac and dic are right in your face.

    Steps

    1. Under the steering wheel down near the pedals, locate the 2 screws you need to take out. You may have to lay down on the floor and look up.
    2. Unscrew those two screws.
    3. Sit in the drivers seat and grab the area where you just took the screws out, and pull towards you. It is only held on by clips.
    4. Next, you can pull off the other piece that covers the gauges and stereo. That whole thing is held on by clips only. Don't lose the clips.

thanks for the advice...I worked up my, courage
and within 15 minutes I had my fog lights working again (they were unplugged) and I took out my old DIC. Now if I could just find a new one, I'd really be in business again!
