Hey guys just making sure I know everything before getting into this install next week. (mechanical boost gauge)

    Couple easy questions:

    1) what do people usually do for the dimmer and ground wiring for the gauge? I would like the backlighting to come on with the headlights at night. It has red led backlights so it will look pretty good with the red setup I have goin on.

    2) If your answer to question 1 is just wire it to the dimmer in the radio.... Can I still do this if my dimmer wire is not connected to anuthing behind the dash? I have a aftermarket pioneer unit with dvd and am not sure if I even have the dimmer wire wired to anything at all. IIRC there was one regular orange wire which i think is hooked up (using gmos-04 harness) and one orange/white wire coming from the head unit which IIRC I left un used.

Can I wire it to the orange/white wire will that work?

Additional info: Played around with the headlights to see if the head unit dims. I turned on my headlights and it seems the radio is always lit (not 100% sure).

So anything easier than using the dimmer on the head unit??!

    04 gtp.

    thanks

my radio dims when running or headlights are on. there should be an orange wire coming from the car if its not being used on the radio just use it for the gauges. if it is then splice into it

Pull the switch out and find out which wire is the ground and which one is the power wire running to the lights and tap into those wires. Its about a 10min job and keeps you from needing to add an extra switch some whete

I did the vent ball mod since i have an 04... if i went 3 pillar route i would have done boost, aeroforce, and somthing else...but i use torque so stuck with just a mech boost gauge.
