I have a small pool of oil between two injectors above the front valve cover. I tried to take a decent pic this morning, but it is overcast. Hopefully somebody has seen this before.

When was the last time you cleaned down the motor? Do it again if you haven't and watch to see how fast it comes back.

If you did your LIM's before, did you put sealant on the bolts? Oil can seep up the threads of the bolts.

Typically oil won't see to the top of the seal unless the gasket is very bad. If the gaskets are original or new grommets weren't used, then it's not likely to be the gasket. Can be..just less likely than a seeping bolt on the LIM.

I haven't cleaned the engine. I don't feel comfortable doing this. I could do it with some guidance.

I have not done any of the gaskets

    Buy Purple Power
Spray on everything except alternator, belts or intake
    Turn on hose
Start motor and spray everything except alternator, belts or intake
If car stumbles or stalls while you are spraying it, you need to replace plugs, wires and or coils.
    Smile at your clean engine.

wires and plugs have been changed. The only reson I am asking about the oil is becasue I had a guy looking at it yesterday for possible sale and he brought out the spotlight and noticed it. I had no idea it was there. I does go through a little oil, but not so much that I am worried about. What do you think it is and how hard is it to fix?

he only offered me $3000. I stayed at $3500. I'm sure I can get that out of it. Where is the oil coming from? I would like to have it fixed before it sells.

Could just be sludge on top. You don't know for sure that it's leaking. I've cleaned many cars and not had the pool of fluid reappear within a couple of months or longer. Thats why I suggest the cleaning.

It's what I usually have laying around. PP, Simple Green... both work well.

I've used simple green before and I like it. I will look for purple power. If the oil comes back quickly then what?

Then you will be able to see if it leaked from the valve cover gasket or the LIM bolt.

Purple power is amazing Koscoe. It will do a great job getting the gunk off with little to no scrubbing.

Don't worry, I was scared to death when I did mine and sprayed it with the hose like a pansey. But nothing broke and the car started right up after I was done. You'll be just fine.
(just don't forget to take the bag off intake if you have open cone )
