Hey everyone! If my post count didn't give it away, I'm a new member here. I'm currently looking for a car to purchase, and I think I'm starting to get it narrowed down. Been looking at Monte Carlos (SS), Impalas (LS), or Grand Prixs (GT/GTP). See the trend? Something about that 3800 in these things...

Anyway, down to business. A GP GTP recently popped up in my area and I'm not sure what to think of it so I'm coming to you guys. The vehicle has 160k on it and has new tie-rods, front rotors, and front wheel bearings. Now "the bad": It has a cracked windshield (guy I talked to said his shop would replace it for 200-225) and one of the wheels is cracked (happened when the tie-rod went out - still drive-able, but would want to replace before winter).

The current price he's asking is right around $3200. I've been doing some research on the GTP - some people have no issues and the car runs like a champ. Others say they have tons of issues and would rather dump it in the ocean.

Is the price he's asking fair? I'm not sure what I can get a new wheel for either.
    Any input is appreciated!

    Thanks,
    -josh

Check it over well for rust. Check in the trunk at the strut towers, under the gas cap, open the rear doors, and look around the rocker panel area. Spending more than a few grand you want to make sure you're getting a car with a clean body.

Also - when I called the guy, he said someone offered him 2500 for it, and he told them he didn't need to sell it that bad. In case that helps.
    Here's a few pics that I got:

I paid 1500 for mine and it had a bad transmission. Its all a matter of what is availible in your area. I drove 8 hours one way to get mine because there were none for less than 4000 around here. If it runs and drives down the road well then it is worth the 3200. doesn't look like it has any rust... you can always offer him 2800... 1500 would be an insult.

that thing is clean. if thats all it needs id offer him 2800 like said. tell him with plates and transfer and all that jazz plus the repairs thats going to equal to 35k plus which is above your range. so you'll offer him 28 cuz thats the best you can do.

he most likely was lying about the 2500 cuz hes trying to get you to offer more. put 28 100 dollar bills in his face and see if he walks away lol

Hey guys - just thought I'd give you a bit of an update. I haven't looked at it yet, but I just checked craigslist again and it looks like he's brought his price from $3295 down to $3000.
Does the $200-$225 cost to repair the windshield sound reasonable? I haven't looked around at what other costs are yet...
How much do wheel costs usually add up to?
I don't think he'll get $3k for it, but he might be willing to take less - depending on how much a wheel costs, I was thinking around $2700. How's that for a price?
