For as long as I can remember, the passenger side door on my 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP wont unlock or lock when i hit the button on either control panel or the buttons on my key. I think its time to fix that but i dont really know whats causing it or how to fix it. Any help?

you have to hit the unlock button twice
but not sue it might be broke if it doesn't lock

if you take the inside door skin off, and look up where the door handle is there should be a lock actuator, with a plug and a metal rod to work the locks with, make sure its still plugged in, or for bad connections at the plug.

i have a rear one that went bad, all it did was make noise and not work. so i un plugged it. back door pass side, it dont bother me. front door would bother me. lol

Does the actual physical switch work? On my '98 both doors got to the point where you couldn't even move the switch any more. I popped the panels off, lubed the locks and called it a day.

    Few different possibilities here.

    Could be the drivers switch
    Could be the passenger switch
Could be broken wires in the boot from the body to the door.

I'd check and see if there's any power going to it and if the passenger side works.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
