If you like the styling and the way it drives, go for the GTP! That is, of course, unless you want to race for pink slips or something.

The GTP (I can only speak of my stock one) has plenty of power to do anything you may want to in traffic or on the highway. If you have a desire to race, or heaven forbid street race, you may want to pick something else, even in the same used price range. It's a sporty, powerfull, if somewhat heavy car that many feel still looks good.

idk what this rsx had. but it beat me. not by much but it did. i had my gf in the car and subs in the back. and i didnt floor it right off the launch so that has a lot to do with it. but still.

the g35 is a fricken pig. it ways almost 4000 lbs. but theyre still faster. like mentioned before. the newer powertrain really helps push the most hp out of some of these engines.

theres some chryslers coming out these days with 7 speed auto trans. chryslers suck for their trans and now they wanna complicate them more? and i remember paying 1500 for my grand am's trans to be rebuilt. now you wanna add on 2 to 3 more gears??? lol thats at least 2k now a days but it is what it is

my biggest thing sold on a gtp is it is a very spacious sedan. i hated having ppl sit behind me in my grand am and i had to scoot my seat so far foward like i was driving a coupe. to me the gtp was very worth it, i got a spacious and quick sedan. if its a sedan you want, then compare that to cars stock for stock. you cant count coupes cuz well thats just not fair

Main thing is drive what you like and F**k the haters, people are going to talk sh1t no matter what. Yes new cars are getting faster thanks to improvements, but like said in an earlier post GP's are cheap to own and mod.

Yes you guys make very good points and i think i just will get a GTP, hopefully. The kind of car i was looking for is a sedan, no coupe a sedan because of the space which the GPs have. Also because people dont think a 4 door grocery getter can haul ass. The GTO firebird camaro where in the option too but too high on insurance. The G8, Subarus, M3s etc are just too pricey and the Srt4, Evo, and Cobalt SS are Shifts and i cant drive a shift. Other cars suck so much on MPG. Then i look at the GTP, Pretty much the perfect car IMO because it fits most of what i want: A Pretty quick 4 door car, good MPG, looks good, not too much to buy or on insurance, and can be tuned to be very fast and still be a DD. Also its a Pontiac, and i like em and Chevys. So pretty much this car fits and yes if i get a 04+ i defiantly want a Comp G.

So ya its not what other people think of the car, and yes i like the GP and i hope to get the GTP. Im pretty sure i can have it modded to hit high to low 13sec with less than 1k of mods cant i? The cars nowadays are getting better, look at this Kia optima its a gay kia and it is pretty fast. Also ya i just want a quick sedan that i will tend to race from like stop light to stop light maybe on a track if i mod it. But never for Pinks and not street racing, maybe lol. Thanks a lot for all your guys info and Experiences. If you guys got any other ill love to here em. Thanks again

If you can't learn to drive a stick on a test drive, then I've lost all faith. It's easy.

I consider my gtp to be pretty quick, its got the normal 3.4 set up, with all the supporting mods and a good street tune, i was able to hang with a 06+ SS impala (i bet i could beat him) and put a hurt on a 05 Dodge Magnum with the 5.7 hemi
if you go for a gtp i gotta say go with a 04+ and if you can find one get a Comp G, its the best car ive ever had and its a blast to drive

    2006 GTO Magnuson supercharged

Lol... $ for $, and HP for HP, lb for lb... it's all still the same. These newer engines are not really better unless you put some serious mod's to them. They've gotten more efficient, but NOT in performance mode, period. You want SPEED, you pay! Through the dealer or otherwise!

Sure, you can get that 4 cylinder 1.8L - 300 HP all Aluminium engine Fiat designed, BUT it'll cost you. Or you could turbo and intercool our GP's, put some fiberglass here and there, remove weight where possible and match up with most any car you like.

It's all a matter of how far you want to go and how deep your pocket is.
    Our's is the cheap man's racekar... here's some examples of HP/Weight ratio's

I bought a 2dr Stratus 3.0 with a manual... mainly to learn how to drive one. Since then, I've only driven two other cars with a manual: HHR and a Camaro. It's a good skill to have and it's mostly about feel. Honestly though, automatics dominate so much that it's hard to find a manual except in certain cars, and autos are getting better every year.

Also, learning to drive a manual GOOD takes skills and time. Getting a car to move without killing it just takes 5 minutes. I've lost count of the number of tards "driving" a manual but they rev high when pulling out and all kinds of crap. No wonder they burn up the clutch so fast.

I have always been a manual grand guy. Automatics are just boring. If I am given the choice, I'll take a stick any day.

I've had a few automatics, and I still prefer a stick, even in traffic. When you get used to them, you don't even notice you're shifting it yourself, unless you're playing of course.
